It is our pleasure to announce that Ernest C. Myer Elementary School has been recognized by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation as the first and only school in New York State to achieve the All-Star America’s Healthiest Schools Award in all nine topic areas of recognition!

This incredible accomplishment reflects the passion, teamwork, and dedication of our Wellness Committee, staff, students, and families who make health and wellness a daily priority at Myer.

The nine topic areas of recognition include:

  • School Health Services – Supporting students’ physical and mental health through access to health professionals and resources.

  • Local School Wellness Policy – Ensuring strong policies that promote nutrition, physical activity, and overall student well-being.

  • Nutrition & Food Access – Providing nutritious meals and healthy food choices that fuel learning and growth.

  • Physical Education & Activity – Encouraging active lifestyles through quality PE programs and movement opportunities throughout the day.

  • Health Education – Teaching students lifelong skills for healthy living, including nutrition, hygiene, and safety.

  • Social-Emotional Health & Learning – Building a positive school climate that supports emotional well-being and respectful relationships.

  • Tobacco-Free Schools – Maintaining a completely tobacco- and vape-free environment for students, staff, and families.

  • Staff Well-Being – Supporting the health and wellness of our amazing teachers and staff, who model healthy habits for students.

  • Family & Community Engagement – Partnering with families and community members to promote wellness both inside and outside of school.

We are so proud of this remarkable achievement and deeply grateful to our entire school community for their continued commitment to creating a healthy, supportive, and vibrant place for every student to learn and grow.
